RESCUE ONLY DEADLINE 3PM 07/13/24 Name: Jey Animal ID: A839185 Age: 6 years Weight: 53 lbs. About: Jey is looking for his fur-ever home. Jey will need to find placement with a Partnered Rescue Group before 3pm on Saturday July 13, 2024. Jey is a handsome Akita who will thrive with a breed savvy person or family. Akitas are a unique breed described aptly on Akita Breed: BeChewy.com as follows: If you secretly get excited when someone cancels plans or if you prefer the company of a few good friends over large social gatherings, then the Akita may be the dog for you. This furry, independent, quiet breed is a bit of an introvert and would enjoy lying low on a Friday night just as much as you. A loyal breed, Akitas bond deeply with their family. And while not the most social, they prefer to show their softer side to those they love the most. But hey, who needs a big crowd when you have each other? Loyal and independent, Akitas are best for homes of any size with experienced pet parents who can provide long, daily walks and plenty of quality time. Consistent training and a committed pet parent contribute to a successful and loving Akita companionship. True to form, Jey takes a bit of time to warm up to new people, which makes life in the shelter a challenge. His body language can be difficult to interpret, and he has some discomfort around leashing/unleashing. Outside of his kennel he does allow and even seek some affection from his trusted friends. Jey was found as a stray so is looking to forge a bond with a family who will take the time to learn about his personality as they go. He may prefer a home without heavy visitor traffic where he can feel safe and secure with just his own people, and one where he is not overhandled. Jey has been tolerant, independent, and easygoing when meeting other dogs in playgroup, though he can be selective with his friends so he will need to meet any dogs he will be going home with. Jey will need to find placement with a Partnered Rescue Group before 3pm on Saturday July 13, 2024. If you are interested in adopting Jey, you must come to PACC before the 3pm 07/13/24 deadline to meet Jey. If the meet and greet goes well, PACC will email partnered rescue groups to let them know there is an interested party wanting to adopt. It is the rescue groups degression if they want to pull Jey for the adopter. Interested parties are welcome to reach out to rescues directly. If they find a rescue group willing to pull Jey, the rescue will need to email
[email protected] to confirm they are pulling Jey. If the rescue group is not a partnered rescue group, PACC will need to get the rescue group started on paperwork to become partnered with PACC and approved before approving the dog to leave under that rescue group. As of 9:00am, PACCs census is 492 dogs in our shelter, 42 dogs over our critical capacity. We are in urgent need of help to manage this crisis.
