Jill
Breed
Australian Shepherd, Australian Cattle Dog / Blue Heeler
The tiniest pocket rocket is looking for an active home!
Jill is looking for a working dog experienced handler to continue building her confidence and set her up for success!
- Under 16” tall and barely 25 lbs
- 5 year old (DOB 6/5/19)
- Spayed
- Housebroken & Kennel trained
- No Bite History
- Rides well in the car
- Jill is currently fostered in Columbus OH, but can easily travel to Michigan, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire and Connecticut. Transport is at adopter's expense.
? In February, Jill was going to be euthanized at an at-capacity Texas shelter for fear-based reactivity. This looked mostly like stiffness, whale eye, flight, etc. She was caught in a live trap, and damaged some teeth trying to break free.
? She’s been in foster care with a professional dog trainer for the last few months and has made huge strides building confidence, attending a bunch of events with speakers, dogs, and people. She loved every second of it!
? With dogs, Jill is better males than females, but can be good with both. She does best with medium size dogs (sometimes terrified of large dogs, sometimes prey-motivated with small dogs, but has befriended small dogs with controlled introductions).
? She’s tempted to stalk/chase cats, but will call off them and coexist with them.
?? Jill needs some time to warm up to new people. She is reserved with strangers, but getting better. She strongly prefers women to men, and once you do have a relationship with her, she’s 100% cuddly Velcro dog.
? You can find Jill snuggling up in the couch with a benebone or toys! She LOVES a good game of fetch! Frisbees, balls, or stuffed toys all are a great pick! She lacks the drive for a performance home, but could easily be a beginner dog to learn sports with. She’s happy as a playful house dog.
? Jill is searching for an active, quiet home with no young children. Older children may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
? She is embarked. Despite looking VERY heeler, she is not one. But she may as well be with her spunky personality!
