JJ's Smoky Oblea

JJ is a goofy and friendly guy, he loves humans and other dogs. He loves playing with his foster siblings. He came to us in rough shape and has made an amazing transformation. He has been waiting his whole life for a new chance and, thanks to Soul Dog Rescue, his time has come! Rescued from the reservation with a severe case of sarcoptic mange, JJ was shut down, sick and starving. His skin condition had caused him to lose a lot of hair, itch, and develop thick and crusty skin. The skin around his eyes was so swollen he couldn't see and he had developed an ulcer in one eye. Luckily, treating mange isn't difficult and is usually curative. At first all he wanted was to sleep and eat. But...as his treatment started to work, a spunky and playful dog started to emerge! JJ is quite a character! He loves to play with rawhides, go for walks, and especially relishes napping in his big soft bed and having regular meals. Despite his difficult experiences, he sees all humans as his friends and will wag and dance for attention. He is housetrained, has been introduced uneventfully to cats (but should still be carefully introduced if there are cats in the home) and will likely do well with other dogs. He would like an active home! He is not expected to need further medical care for his skin, although he may need bathing (or going to a groomer) more than average until his beautiful coat is more normally grown. This wonderful resilient soul deserves his new chance!!!
