A lady had called stating that her neighbour had dogs that constantly ran loose and puppies were being born every few months. She offered to bring in one mom dog and her puppies and get the remaining females spayed. Joel came in and was very unsure of the scary shelter. He was covered in dirt, feces, urine, and was very underweight. Joel’s ideal family would be very patient and loving family who will give him the time he needs to feel comfortable and not rush or force him into things he’s not comfortable with. Foster comments: Although timid at first, Joel is quick to come out of his shell and show his wonderful personality. He is a low-medium energy dog who feels most comfortable around another dog. He has learned to play with toys and enjoys snuggling on the couch and having his belly rubbed. Joel is currently working on his basic commands and is very eager to please. He is quick to settle in his crate and is now having very few accidents in the house. Joel has also made progress with leash walking and recall. He is currently living with a cat and if his future home has one as well, it would be best for it to be a dog savvy cat. The current cat hisses at him often and he will show his teeth to her, but they have both been making progress over the past little while.
