Juneau's foster mom says: She is shy, but VERY SWEET! She is finally coming around and will give me kisses in the morning when I'm laying in bed.
Arrival story: Juneau came to us from a rural shelter where she has spent most of her life.
Approximate age: She is about 6-7 years old.
Personality: Juneau is a very shy dog and needs time to trust humans but she is a WONDERFUL dog. She has been in foster care now for 3 months and is ready for her forever home now. She is not at all aggressive or mean - she is just scared - the result of havign lived in a cage so long without much human interaction. She likes dogs and cats - she does very well with other animals. She quiet in the house ... likes to sit on her dog bed or in her crate and snooze most of the time. She is crate trained but can also be left out, unsupervised, for several hours at a time without incident. She is not destructive and is completely potty trained. She would be the perfect dog if it wasn't for her extreme shyness.
Juneau's forever home: Juneau will need a quiet home with a person or family prepared to work with a extremly shy dog. She is doing better every day but its baby steps and it will take her time to totally trust a human. Her new home will need to be a home without children and it would be helpful if there were at least one other dog. Juneau likes to watch what the other dogs do and will mimic their behavior, ie - if she sees the other dogs coming over for a pet or rub, she'll come over for a pet or rub. It would also be highly desirable if she went to a home with a physical fence. She's more at ease outside in the yard without a leash on and at this point, could not be trused off leash. She does LOVE walks and walks very well on a leash. It would be great if she could get at least one good walk a day, if not more in her new home.
