My Story

Meet Junglebook! 8-year-old Junglebook came to us from Humane Society of Imperial County on March 19th. Junglebook can be shy, but if you sit next to him and let him come to you on his own terms then he'll almost immediately be your new buddy! His back legs are paralyzed, but being a little broken doesn't mean he's less worthy of love and a family of his own. Be sure to watch the adorable videos - this little boy is full of spunk and love! Junglebook went on a two-week Frosted Fling with a family who also has a dog with paralyzed hind legs. We are so grateful for the TLC he received in the comforts of their home while we learned so much about his needs. His Fling Mom shared: "Junglebook is very, very soft, and his favorite thing in the world is being pet. He will love a home where he can be a lap dog. He gets along fine with other dogs. Like my dog, he seems more interested in people than dogs. Junglebook is paraplegic, so he moves around with his front legs while dragging his back legs. You should see how quick this little man gets around! His adoptive family will be provided with a wheelchair for him. Helping him practice using it is so fun! He also has a couple of drag bags but currently prefers going au naturel when scooting around! Jungie is a great size if you're looking for an itty bitty chihuahua to carry around. He doesn't need belly bands like some paralyzed dogs as his bladder requires manual expression 2 or 3 times a day. It's easy to do! We all know chihuahuas love to just chill in a nest in one place anyways and are super portable and good in a bag or sling, so one really doesn't notice that Junglebook is "different. Truth be told his only "flaw might be that some people may be find his insistent request for pets to be bothersome. He is quite earnest about it and so full of bliss when being caressed, though, so I do not mind! I left him at home yesterday for the first time. He did fine! I set him up with blankets (he LOVES blankets) in a big dog bed, but he moved himself to my bathrobe and curled up in it and other laundry." Junglebook currently lives in a Foster home while he waits for his forever family. Might it be you?
