My Story

Kachina is a young girl and the life of the party! She is so happy to be in her new world and is ready for a family and adventures. She is a bubbly, bouncy, happy, sweet girl :) Kachina is small for a malamute, weighing about 56 pounds. She would make a great companion for someone who likes the great outdoors and has time to slowly introduce new and exciting things the world offers. She likes to cuddle and is ready to be a couch potato companion for movie nights. ********************************** If you are interested in ADOPTING or FOSTERING, please complete an application by cutting & pasting the following link: https://form.jotform.com/60794585351161 Or visit CHAAMP.org to access the Adoption/Foster link and learn about the process. https://www.chaamp.org/adoption-process Your application tells us about your lifestyle and helps us find a potential match for you and your family. We are happy to work with you. For example, if you don't have a fence, we can help find alternatives and/or a dog that will do well without a fence. A home visit is required prior to adoption/fostering. You can visit the malamute(s) once you've completed the process. Alternatively, you may volunteer and learn how rewards-based training brings out the best in malamutes. ********************************* CHAAMP accepts applications from Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and Washington DC. ADOPTION FEES ~Senior dogs (8+ years old): $100.00 ~Adult dogs (2 years up to 8): $300.00   ~Puppies (6 months - 2 years): $350.00 ~Puppies under 6 months: $375 All Malamutes are microchipped, spayed/neutered, and up-to-date on vaccines. Puppy fees are higher due to more vet visits and vaccines. The adoption fee helps us cover these costs. ********************************* We highly recommend the following links that you will need to cut and paste: Kathy Sdao’s SMART x 50 (Capture & Reward Good Behavior) https://babysafedogtraining.com/kathy-sdaos-smart-x-50-another-way-to-use-1000-treats/ Building Your Dog's Confidence by Victoria Stilwell (FREE Online Course) https://www.vsdogtrainingacademy.com/enroll/demo/ Shy Adopters Guide https://www.shelterdogplay.org/_files/ugd/7c885c_2f9fe1f87ea24376912b6e0b18e41998.pdf ********************************* CHAAMP is not a shelter and is run by 100% volunteers. CHAAMP is a proud rescue member of the Pet Professional Guild. We say no thank you to Shock, Prong, Choke, Pain, Force, and Fear. We understand safety is important to prevent being pulled by malamutes who were born to pull. We are happy to share options and other equipment to help you both be safe. CHAAMP is a Rescue Affiliate Member of the Alaskan Malamute Assistance League (AMAL). For a list of AMAL rescues in the USA and Canada: https://www.malamuterescue.org/
