My Story

Meet our sweet Kady! She is a small, 30 lb.hound/lab mix and about 1 year old. She is little timid at first, but has such a big heart and she is getting more comfortable and gaining more confidence every day. She was at a Kentucky county shelter when they found blood in her run, so she was added to the euthanasia list. The vet could not bring himself to euthanize her, so he contacted STAF and ask if a volunteer could come and get her. It turned out the blood was from her first heat. She is now fixed and safe with the loving volunteers at STAF. She is definitely a puppy and really, really enjoys snuggling. Kady is working on getting potty trained, sleeps well in a crate, but loves to also sleep on the furniture. She gets along well with other dogs and is not food or toy possessive. She is definitely a little afraid of cars when we're out walking, but gaining confidence everyday. She will do best in a home that will take the time to get her comfortable in a new environment. Other dogs would help her transition but if the right owner is willing to put on the work she would be good as an only dog too. She would do fine in a family with older kids who understand she may be afraid at first. Being a young dog, Kady would benefit from training after she gets settled into her new home.  She is all ready to be a wonderful addition to a family who can offer her all the love and patience she needs to be a confident and happy girl! Visit STAF.org for more information on our adoption process. *** Email [email protected] for next steps! *** • All of our animals are spayed/neutered and current on shots. • We do not do same-day adoptions. You will be asked to return for at least one follow-up visit, then take the dog home for a trial period before officially adopting. • You must be 21 years or older to adopt from STAF. • We require a 4-foot-tall physical fence for homes with children under the age of 11. We also may require a physical fence for specific dogs on a case-by-case basis, depending on each dog’s behavior and exercise needs. • Due in part to increasing coyote activity/incidents in the area and the difficulty of predicting how a dog will respond to invisible fence training, we can not adopt to homes with invisible fences. • We do request vet and personal references. • We can facilitate adoptions within a 30-mile radius of our Cincinnati-based shelter.
