Come meet Kalmia and other great adoptable dogs this Sunday (July 28th) from 12-3 pm at the Petsmart in Silver Spring (12020 Cherry Hill Rd, Silver Spring, MD 20904)! Name: Kalmia Best Guess for Breed: Hound/Foxhound Mix Best Guess for Age: 1.5 years as of 3/4/22 SEX: Female Approximate Weight: 43 pounds Gets Along With: Other dogs!!! We haven't seen Kalmia with cats, but she can be tested Currently Living at: DC area foster home Special adoption considerations: Kalmia is shy and needs to go to a home with a welcoming resident dog. We would be cautious placing Kalmia in a home with children under 12 years old because young kids can often scare shy dogs with their level of energy or noise. Children would need to be supervised closely to not leave doors open and should never walk the dog without an adult holding the leash. I got out of the shelter and am now in a foster home but am still dreaming of my forever home. I heard that once I get adopted I'd get to live with them forever (and I hear there would be interesting food smells!). I hear I could lie on a couch and just sniff. Sounds like heaven. And I could take a lot of walks, and do some sniffing on those, and maybe even some runs if you're interested (I'm good at running). And when we're done walking (or maybe even hiking?), we could come home and sit on the couch again and cuddle and watch TV! You can even pick what we watch. Maybe I could even have a few toys, and a nice bed to call my own. And I'd love to take some obedience classes and make you proud of how well I can behave, and go to the dog park and make some friends and do some more sniffing there!! What do you say? Kalmia is a wonderful girl who is extremely gentle and friendly with everyone she meets. Kalmia would love a backyard. After all, she is a hound and sniffing is her jam! She is a little scared of the outdoors so she needs a family with a resident dog who can help her build confidence and teach her how wonderful a leash walk can be. She has been working on her house manners and while we cannot guarantee she is housebroken she has not had an accident in the house and seems to know to do her business outside. Kalmia is that very rare mix of calm and chill with a little bit of playful. When you hold her adorable face in your hands, she will melt your heart.
