Sun's out, tongue's out! Please meet Katara! Katara is a happy gal with a goofy grin whose tongue is usually always hanging out of her mouth! She is a two year old rottie mix weighing about 64 pounds. Katara has a love of life and it's shown in her energy levels! She is always bouncy and excited especially when toys are involved as she has become a master in the art of tug-o-war and wants to show you just how skillful she is. She is super affectionate but doesn't really know her size so although she is kid friendly, we would suggest sturdy kids only as her zest for life can sometimes make her forget that it's not very polite to knock a little human down. This sweet girl is also dog friendly and loves to play bow! Because of her energy and love of life, she would only do well with the thuggest of thug cats as most of the cats she met didn't really like her getting in their faces. Katara just wants to be friends with everyone and everything! This sweet girl needs an adopter willing to work with her and continue her training and socialization. She needs work on leash training and needs an active family that will help stimulate her both physically and mentally. A fenced yard would also be ideal so she can have the zoomies as many times as she would like and so she can befriend the squirrels and rabbits roaming around. Overall, Katara is looking for an active home and a family who will give her all the love and keep that smile on her face! Crate training until the puppy is at least one year old to prevent chewing on inappropriate things when you can't supervise. 3.) Socialization. The more positive and varying experiences as a puppy the better, both in and out of your home. 4.) Puppy behavior and life stages are equivalent to a human toddler. It takes at least a full year to have a calmer, well-adjusted dog. Patience is required and when your dog's behavior is a positive experience for you and those around you, your patience will be rewarded ten-fold, for years to come. Please do not consider adopting a puppy if you have not thoroughly thought through the pros and cons of having one. So many people end up returning them after 3-5 months because they didn't realize the amount of work involved in raising a puppy. Patience, appropriate toys, socialization, and obedience training are all musts. All are time-consuming and can be expensive. All dogs require supervision with children and obedience training. Adopters that want to have good dogs must be prepared to put the time and effort into training a dog. Any dog requires work and effort, but a well trained, well-socialized dog is more than worth the effort to get them there.
