My Story

Kim is a beautiful 2-year old female Pit Bull Terrier/Hound mix who was brought to the HSOV on September 19, 2023 during the overnight- or early morning hours and placed in one of our outside kennels near the front of the shelter building. We don't know if she was an owner surrender or if perhaps someone found her and left her there for her well-being. Kim was not wearing a collar, and she was not microchipped. This gorgeous girl has a black-and-white short smooth coat, white paws, a long tail, and an adorable symmetrically-marked face with soulful brown eyes, a milk chocolate nose, and short floppy ears. Kim's coat has a subtle dark brown shading which is noticeable when she is in the bright sunshine. Kim is understandably a very frightened girl after being left alone in an unfamiliar place with people that she does not yet realize are her new best friends who are giving her unconditional love. These glamour photos of Kim were taken on September 19th 2023 when HSOV Volunteer/Board Member Tracy Moore accompanied her outdoors late in the afternoon. Tracy has gained Kim's trust and kept looking to her for guidance and reassurance while she posed for pictures. Kim loved hearing soft 'baby talk' and hearing what a 'good girl' she was. Kim had the sweetest yet most heartbreaking facial expressions when she looked at Tracy and our photographer with sadness in her eyes. Kim weighs 67 lbs. She didn't appear to have had any walking-on-a-leash experience but she made a noble effort thanks to encourage from Tracy (and even 'jogged' in step with Tracy as they headed back inside the shelter to her kennel). In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Kim was held for three days so that her family would have an opportunity to reclaim her. Sadly nobody called or came looking for this beautiful girl. UPDATE: We are temporarily listing Kim as 'Special Needs' since she tested positive for Lyme Disease and Ehrlichia (tick borne infections) on September 21, 2023 and is currently being given antibiotics. Kim is negative for Heartworm and Anaplasma.
