My Story

Meet King, the noble boy ready to be the King of your world! Male | Mexi Mutt / Hound Mix | 52lbs | Neutered/Spayed, UTD on shots | Takes his time with dogs Rescued from Mexico via the DogGo Project Currently being fostered in Toronto, ON Background : King’s curiosity led him to approach the shelter in Mexico during a spay and neuter clinic and immediately allowed staff and volunteers to pet him. He was so gentle and friendly the staff were able to neuter him and a volunteer stepped up to temporarily house him until he was ready for his freedom flight! Personality: King is a low-energy dog who spends most of his day sleeping and has no interest in toys except sometimes his Kong when he’s in the mood. He loves being petted and will whine and raise his paw for more attention when you stop. He is friendly with new people, allowing them to pet him after a sniff. He enjoys going on his walks although he doesn’t need long ones. He is a very easy going boy who doesn’t require much except love and affection! Ideal Home: Because of King’s easy going nature he would fit in well in most homes. He is not much of an adventure buddy so a family with a more low-energy lifestyle would suit him best. He would love someone who works from home or can be home with him during the day so he can get the attention and affection he craves. He does not have much experience with children but would likely do well in a home with them however he would prefer to be the only dog. He does have some prey drive so he would prefer a home with no cats or other small animals. Training/Activity: King is a low key guy, preferring to snooze the day away at home. He has very good leash manners and walks in a perfect heel and doesn’t pull. He is not particularly food motivated but has recently learned “sit” and does it with ease. He is house and crate trained, easily falling asleep in his crate at night - but he is working on relaxing in his crate during the day when his fosters leave the house. He wants to be where his people are so he will try to leave the house with you but his fosters are working with him to build up his confidence being in the home alone. King is part of Sea Paws Rescue's Compassionate Care Program. He has had FHO surgery and it is recommended he receives monthly shots to help with the pain and discomfort of Osteoarthritis. This will be covered if he continues to go to SPR's partner vet Lakeview Animal Hospital, for them or SPR will reimburse the amount Lakeview charges to his adopter. Give a summary: King is the ultimate dream boat and will win your heart over the instant that you meet him! He is kind and gentle and makes the perfect companion - thriving with given his favourite thing - love! King will make a great addition to any family who is ready to put him at the center of their world, while giving him structure, routine and tons of affection! **NOTE** All adoption applicants must be residents of Ontario, Canada to be considered.
