Hi, My name is King! I am a 1 year & 2 mos., Male/Neutered, Black German Shepherd, 73lbs. UTD on Vaccines. My story At 16 weeks I was surrendered to the Los Angeles County, Animal Shelter in California. A month later I was adopted only to be returned a day later, apparently I was too big for my new home. From that point until May 2023 I was in the shelter until Trina and Friends Rescued me. I spent 3/4 of my young life in a kennel with little access to walks or socialization. The type of home I require I am a Beautiful and AMAZINGLY smart dog. I need an assertive yet patient handler with German Shepherd experience! I require time & space to blossom into the best pet dog. I would love a yard with a fence so I can run and play (I really enjoy the option to run, roam and sniff my surroundings …and I have a high prey drive). ??? I would love a home where my humans are around alot (at least until I decompress in my new surroundings 3-6 mos). I crate very well, but I prefer short periods of time. (Currently im crated overnight only (for aprox 8-10hrs.) I bond quickly, I prefer female humans right now, male humans require very slow introductions & patience. Im nervous around them but im working really hard at relaxing. Im very much a velcro dog and I love to vocalize my needs. (Typical whiny Shepherd) What im good at *Im fantastic in the crate (overnight 8-10 hrs) *Eating, im very food driven *Great on leash *I settle well after appropriate exercise *I interact and play well with other dogs my size (after proper introductions) *I listen really well considering I’m working on basic commands *I love being with my foster mom and I’m very affectionate (i’ve learned that appropriate touch and being with humans is something I’ve always needed) What im working on *House training (I have the occasional accident but im doing excellent) *Im timid around men (currently working on socialization & desensitizing training)(slow introductions to everyone is necessary b/c im scared) *Being comfortable with my surroundings. (I was in the shelter a long time) *Loud noises *Being alone for extended periods is of time. *Playing with toys (im learning what toys are and I enjoy the stuffed toys) *I dont care for water (especially the hose) in the shelter I would sometimes get sprayed when the kennels were cleaned out (But I dont mind rain!) *Learning what I can and cant have (potted plants are really interesting right now) *Appreciating being touched(my foster mom is working on desensitizing training)(im doing well) *I walk well on leash but I could use more training.
