My Story

King is a playful boy who came to the shelter when his persons living situation was changing. King lived in that home his entire life and was reportedly friendly with other dogs and housebroken. His person described him as a curious cuddle bug who loves to wrestle, play tug o war, and has lots of energy. King spent about a month in another home where he did well with small dogs, was again housebroken, and was also crate trained. His person described him as affectionate and playful and said that he loves toys and car rides. King may need a bit of time to settle into a new home and warm up to new people, but trust us- hes worth it!!! In another short home King again did well with small dogs and was housebroken with a doggy door. His people described him as a playful boy who loves toys and is always by your side. Heres what volunteers have said about this happy, playful boy: King is great in the car. After a quick potty break, he jumped right into my truck. We went to a car show first. He was a little nervous because of the loud music and all the people/cars, but he was comfortable meeting men and women and enjoyed showing off his skills (sit, down, paw). We then went to a local park to enjoy some quiet time before a nice trip back to PACC. Great boy! King is friendly and alert. He is smart really food motivated. I had him practice jumping across some rocks and then doing a sit on each rock. I had him lay down on the last rock and wait for a treat. After a few repetitions, I stood to the side to give him some sniff/explore time in the play yard. When he saw me looking at him, King ran over to the rocks on his own, bounced across all three and then sat and laid down on the third with his eyes on me, waiting for his expected reward-all without any instruction! He is so smart. I always enjoy spending time with King. King is a very sweet and curious little guy. We worked on some cues in the play yard: come, sit, look, and he even surprised me with a lay down! He is a very cute dog who seems very engaged with training. King is treat- motivated and enjoyed exploring the yard. King enjoyed eagerly exploring all the interesting scents and seemed to be comfortable with my company (tail up and wagging). We walked down into the wash, where he was quite intrigued by the roadrunners and rabbits (watching intently, but no pulling or chasing). He seemed to gain confidence as we went along and solicited treats at several stops. King is an adventurous dog who sometimes needs a little reassurance, but he will quickly gain confidence in the care of some lucky adopter. A fine dog. King shares his kennel with a pal and was playful and social when meeting other dogs in playgroup. He will do best in a home without cats. Ask to meet King today!!
