Kio

Meet Kio. Kio absolutely loves humans! He's a young, three-year-old, 48-pound American Mix (part Beagle, part Pitty). However, he's a bit under socialized due to inconsistent or incomplete interactions with humans and other dogs. Think of him as a pup who hasn't had an “adult in the room” to model behavior. Kio is on the lookout for a role model human and maybe even another dog to guide him. Kio is a big fan of pull toys and squeaky toys, and he's learned to "drop" them on command. He's good on a leash, respecting a loose leash, and he's learning commands like sit and stay. If you're looking for a dog who is eager to build a strong human-dog connection, Kio is your guy. Kio was a stray who entered the Contra Costa Shelter in May 2024 and participated in playgroups with 3-5 other dogs. In mid-July 2024, Kio was placed with a foster to avoid euthanasia. The foster has two large Mastiff breed dogs (one male, one female), and Kio gets along with them, though the Mastiffs generally ignore him, according to the foster.
