My Story

7/25/24 UPDATE: Update on Kirby... He had his initial heartworm treatment stay June 24th at the vet hospital and did really well. He has been back at home since Monday, July 1st. He is getting Doxy twice a day and doing well at home. He has more energy and has to be reminded sometimes to take it easy, but overall he knows how to rest and just chill He will go back for the next heartworm treatment hospital stay on Aug 7th for another week. He'll be retested in September and we are praying Kirby will be heartworm free! Then he'll be ready to go to his forever home Kirby's personality has been shining through, he is affectionate and loving. He gives kisses and he loves to cuddle. Kirby has grown so strong and is walking very well! Kirby's Amazon Wishlisthttps://www.amazon.com/hz/wishlist/ls/25CBLKV47Z9P1?ref_=wl_share 5/26/24 UPDATE: Kirby had his initial consultation with the physical therapy specialist. She said that he's not able to start hydrotherapy yet due to the pain he was now showing from arthritis in his elbows and knees. She said that he needed to have a Librela shot right away and start mild at home physical therapy. She gave his foster mama several exercises to work with him on. In just a few days since this, he is already showing improvement. He is walking a little faster, standing with his legs more appropriately positioned, and it can be seen that he is overall just feeling better. More tail wags have been reported and he is really opening up to enjoying human contact 5/6/24 UPDATE: I'm happy to share that Kirby is back at his Foster's house from his medical stay at the vet as of this morning 5/6/24. He's expelled most of his worms and is actually gaining weight now. He's up 3 lbs! He's still incredibly under weight, and has a long road ahead of him, but we're hopeful for his long term recovery. Kirby took his freedom ride from the shelter to his loving foster home on 4/20/2024! Kirby was found on the side of the road with a bullet in him and was struggling to walk. He is heartworm positive and has a long road ahead of him. Please consider donating to Kirby's care! Kirby is still being evaluated and decompressing at this time. His foster is getting to know him and developing a wish list to find him the perfect furver home! So, while we are accepting applications for him, he is not quite ready for a forever home until his wish list is complete. Currently located in MO
