My Story
Kitty is a special girl who needs a special person!! Kitty was tagged from our local animal control due to be killed in just a few hours. She is 30 pounds and about 2 years old. Kitty needs a calm household. Lots of activity and commotion seem to stress her out. She got her name because she may also be having an identity crisis and seems to think she is a cat. She will rub up on your legs like a kitty, will ignore you when she doesn't like something, and her recall is best with the phrase "here kitty kitty kitty". She looks more like a deer when she runs in the yard and kind of like a frog when she lays on the floor, but all in all, all of her legs have learned to work together with her precious little head.
Kitty has a neurological disorder from an unknown head trauma. We believed that she may be blind at first, but with nutrition and physical therapy, she seems to see fine, but is still a little clumsy. There is a small disconnect between her brain and her eyes, so she may look right at you and gallop to the left or right to get to you. She eventually finds her way to where she is going.
She walks pretty well on a leash, until she decides she doesn't want to anymore. Kitty is potty trained, but she has to be leashed walked to do so when it is raining (or not have a doggy door to run back into). If she can get back into the house, this can easily become a chase for the next hour. She is smarter than she is given credit for, and she can be a little stubborn if she doesn't want to do something.
If she winds up somewhere with a tree in the backyard and she begins to bark at it, just know that she and the tree are very much like the movie "Fifty First Dates".... She will forget that she hates the tree but after a good night's sleep, Kitty will be shocked about it still being there tomorrow... And the routine will begin again. A simple "kitty, kitty, kitty" snaps her out of her hatred of the tree for the day.
Kitty cannot jump on or off of a tall bed but loves to sleep with her person. She waits patiently to be picked up and put on the bed at night and she barks when she is ready to get up and out in the mornings. She is able to get on a regular sized couch, sometimes with a couple of jumps, and she loves to cuddle up with her person for a movie night!!
Kitty loves a good treat, but if she doesn't want it, she will push it away with her nose. If tried too many times to give her the same unwanted treat, she will turn her back and scratch her feet towards you telling you that she has had enough of the nonsense and is waiting for the one that she wants! Her all-time favorite is a squirt of whipped cream!!
All and all, Kitty is a great little pup who just needs a person who has the time to love her as much as she wants to be loved!! Kitty is definitely the entertainment that a person needs in their life!!
