ABOUT KOKA
This handsome man has the best ears around! Koka is a 2 year old terrier mix with lots of love to give! He came to HAP with his bestie, Chaka, when their owners were no longer able to care for them. Despite being at the shelter, he quickly warmed up to our staff and volunteers, leaning in for pets and enjoying some yummy treats. Koka already knows basic commands, walks well on a leash, appears house-trained, and is eager to please people. When he's not soaking up love from our staff, he's usually leaping around our fenced fields with his doggy friends! He loves to sunbathe and enjoys a good kong toy. He has his nervous moments, but we don't blame him, this environment can be scary sometimes. Koka has thrived in our Doggy Day Out program, where his volunteer friends can give him a break from stressful shelter life! Here's what one volunteer had to say about him:
"Today I took Koka out for DDO. He was a little shy at first but warmed up pretty quickly. We went to Alapocas Run State Park, I learned very quickly he likes to run along the trails there. He wasn't too fond of going towards the forest area, but we just rerouted back to our starting point. We sat down near an open field and watched cyclist pass. Then I took him to the Riverfront and he had some ice cream! He was so well behaved on leash and very easy to transport. Whoever adopts him will have a great addition to their family!" - Katie

If you are interested in this specific dog but it ends up not being the best fit upon meeting, our adoption counselors will work with you to help find a match!
