My Story

Thank you for choosing to adopt or foster and aid in the rescue efforts of RARE!  **Adoption Interest Form REQUIRED via our website Rarerescue.org** Meet Koko!  Koko is an adorable and sweet 1-year-old Australian Kelpie mix (breed mix uncertain) who is eagerly searching for her forever home. Weighing in at a compact 30.2 lbs, she may be small in size, but her heart is full of love and loyalty. This affectionate pup has had experience living with small children and has been a loving companion to a single mom and her two little ones. Unfortunately, due to time constraints, Koko's previous owner had to make the difficult decision to surrender her. Now, she's ready to start a new chapter in her life and find a family that can provide her with the time, attention, and care she deserves. During her puppyhood, Koko was primarily around her previous owner and her two children, which limited her exposure to new people. As a result, she may initially be shy when meeting strangers. However, once she warms up to you, you'll witness her true playful and affectionate nature. With patience and understanding, she will quickly acclimate to her new surroundings and the people in her life. Koko's foster family reports that she is excellent with other dogs and has shown no interest in the resident cats. She is fully house-trained, making her transition into your home much smoother. Koko loves nothing more than snuggling on the couch and sleeping by your side at night, but she is also familiar with crate training. If you're searching for a devoted and loving companion who will bring joy and happiness into your life, Koko might be the perfect dog for you! To learn more about her and begin the adoption process, please complete an adoption application at rarerescue.org. Take the first step towards welcoming Koko into your family and providing her with the loving home she deserves. ??? We feel the same way! The DOG ADOPTION INTEREST FORM is important and REQUIRED for this reason.  All of our Adoptables are: Spayed/neutered; Up to date on vaccines; Heartworm tested if six months or older (& kept on heartworm preventative and treated for heartworms if positive when entering our program): Microchipped prior to adoption BREEDS: We are not breed experts. The breed(s) listed for each adoptable are best guesses or suggestions. PLEASE NOTE: We are a non-profit organization without municipal or government funding. Veterinary/Medical expenses are constant for an animal rescue. Our adoption fees not only help to provide vetting and care for the animal being adopted, but they also help to cover heartworm treatments and other treatable ailments that many animals, that would otherwise be euthanized, need in order to be made available for adoption. Please understand that adopting an animal is a LIFETIME COMMITMENT to that animal and there will be veterinary expenses throughout their life that can often cost several hundreds, if not thousands of dollars (without pet insurance), especially without annual checkups and preventative care.  As a potential family for this pet you are responsible for their safety and that includes keeping them on your property. ***If you are not in the middle Tennessee area, transport can potentially be arranged to approved homes, depending on distance and local adaptability. We normally do not allow adoptions outside of 1.5 hours driving distance.
