URGENT - BEAUTIFUL, YOUNGER PUREBRED CHOW GIRL, VERY SWEET BUT SHY, ALSO DOG FRIENDLY, AVAILABLE TO ADOPT W/ A WAIVER, BUT ALSO LOOKING FOR A FOSTER AND RESCUE, SHELTER IS SMALL AND FULL. WHO CAN HELP? We were contacted by a good Samaritan about 3 roaming purebred looking chows, 2 of which were caught and brought to the Corona shelter. This third chow. Kuma, alluded animal control for another week. Understandably, by the time she was finally caught, Kuma became a typical scared chow in a shelter environment, retreating to back of the kennel when people approach. However, we are told these dogs are friendly and have a known owner who never came to reclaim them after becoming homeless. We suspect she was used to breed, as none of the dogs and the older female was clearly bred recently. Missy the other female has since been adopted. Bruno is still there in need. The shelter has Kuma listed as Puma, but Kuma is the correct name apparently. We know this because we were able to find and make contact with the owner who gave us more information on these dogs. She said, “Her name is Kuma actually and I know she seems scared because she’s always kinda had anxiety but when she gets to smell you out and get to know your not there to harm her in anyway she’s very sweet. Bruno also he may be larger size but when get to know him he’s a very sweet big teddy bear loves cuddles both Bruno and Kuma live belly rubs. Missy is another sweetheart very loyal and climbing up in age. They are about 7 years old Bruno and Missy and Kuma is about 3 or 4 years old.“ If you are interested in fostering and are local, or local to a rescue in a position to help, or just need more information or want to help, please contact [email protected] asap or Southern California Chow Chow Rescue Network who is trying to assist the shelter with each dog’s placement.
