TThe total cost of adopting Lakin is $275. She has already been spayed on May 13, 2024. Her litter was rescued from a kill shelter in Texas when they were taken in by animal control officers after being dumped with no mother dog and no food, water or shelter. Lakin is a very sweet, affectionate 6 month old Staffordshire/ Pit Terrier mix. She gets along well with other dogs, but has not been around cats. She has had all her puppy shots and rabies vaccination as well. On May 13th, on the day of her spay surgery, she weighed 43 pounds. Her heartworm and fecal test were both negative also meaning she was free from heartworms and other internal parasites. Her new owner will receive a folder with all her vet records included. She loves attention but also has an air of independence, and sometimes likes to play and run by herself with the toy of her choice $75 is due as a transport fee from Texas to Missouri, Illinois or Michigan but the $200 adoption fee is not due until the pick up date at one of the 5 locations listed below. All of our dogs and puppies that are pre-adopted, which means they have an approved application and transport fee has been paid, can be picked up at one of 5 transport pickup locations, regardless of what the adoption listing shows. PetFinder only has the option to pick one location for each puppy listed, but then on the “transport roster information form” you can choose either location for pickup. Before the status changes from "adoptable" to "adoption pending," the $75 transport fee must be paid to secure the adoption. At that time, we stop accepting applications for that particular puppy/dog. Even though you receive an adoption approval letter, the puppy will not transported unless the transport fee is paid. Consequently, if another applicant is approved later, but pays the transport fee first, the applicant who pays the transport fee secures the adoption of that particular dog or puppy. It is the responsibility of the new owner to have an unaltered puppy spayed or neutered at five to six months of age as outlined in the adoption contract. Dogs older than six months should be altered within 45 days of adoption. You will receive the adoption contract via email after you pick up your pet.
