Meet Larry, a male German Shepherd with a heart as big as his playful spirit. Larry arrived to us very shy but has now truly come into his own. Weighing in at 67 pounds, he thrives in the company of other dogs and enjoys interacting with them during playtime. His favorite activity, though, is going for walks off property, where his leash skills truly shine. Larry would make an excellent hiking or walking companion, as he is great on a leash and loves to explore. He has grown to adore people and now greets them willingly, his gentle and calm energy making him a joy to be around. Treats are one of Larry's favorite things, and he gets so excited when someone approaches him with a harness. This sweet boy is ready to be the most loyal companion to someone special. He is eager to find his forever family and share his boundless love and loyalty. - - - - - Prior to being rescued, many of our dogs have experienced minimal socialization. As a result, there is often an adjustment period when learning about life as a family pet. We typically do not adopt to homes with young children. Homes with older children will be considered on an individual basis. Common skills such as house training and leash walking will often take a little extra time. Patience, understanding and a gentle hand are a must. The great news is, most of these dogs come around rather quickly and being a part of their rehabilitation is an extremely rewarding experience.
