Latte

Any Chihuahua lovers out there that have experience with the fearful ones? My name is Latte and and I am a 12 pound, 2 year old female Chihuahua mix looking for my forever home. I arrived at the shelter with my puppy and after being an amazing mama I retired from that role and am ready to be in a loving home! The staff here learned immediately that I was not socialized and was very fearful. It took lots of time for me to become comfortable with my main caretakers here and even now there is certain movements that make me unsure, such as being picked up. My favorite activities include playing with toys, getting belly rubs, running zoomies, exploring while on walks, and snuggling up in my bed. I am full of energy and love to play when I am content around you, so I would prefer to go home with a family that has an active lifestyle. The humans here have said that I will need a very special and patient family that understands how much time it may take for me to love them and accept affection from them. They will also have to be understanding of the fact that I will always be a more timid dog and won't always be up for meeting new people. My temporary humans describe me as adorable, silly, spunky, playful, loving, and best of all... lovely! I cannot go home with small children, as I do have the potential to nip when scared. During the week I've been going home with my favorite staff member and she has given me all A+'s on my report card! She says that I'm chill 70% of the time and the rest energetic/playful. I absolutely love my crate and am 100% crate trained, as well as potty trained. I'm also super smart and learned real quick what house manners I need. I even know the meaning of "stay!" Overall, she says that I'm one amazing house guest and will be a loyal companion for whoever decides to give me a chance! I have been tested with cats and did well, as I was more shy around them than interested. The shelter workers here are requiring that I MUST go home with another small dog, as I truly open up around them and they think having a play mate will make my life so much more enjoyable!
