My Story

******Please note, once completing the initial screen you will be connected with the placement for a video chat. Transports run every few weeks and we will have the dog on the next available transport once approved. If you are not able to accept a dog until a specific time period, please apply at that time************ We are a volunteer run rescue and donate our time to these dogs. IF you are not serious about moving forward in our adoption process, please do not apply. If someone other than yourself is part of the decision making process, please make sure you have spoken with them and they are on board. We really do not want to waste anyone's time if you are not serious about adopting this dog. Lavender, 1-1.5 years old, spayed female, Husky mix, 45 pounds. She is in a foster home in AUSTIN, TEXAS and can transport out of State once an adopter is approved. The animal crisis in Texas is very overwhelming. Many dogs are abandoned which results in roaming the streets. Lavender's foster mom went to a city in Texas known for homeless dogs. She was told about Lavender and immediately went out to rescue her. The belief is Lavender was being kept on a chain at her owner's house. When they found out she was pregnant, they loosened her chain so she would "run away." She did end up giving birth to puppies out on the streets. Sadly, all of her puppies were run over by cars and did not survive. She stayed with them until her foster found her and took her home. (Check out our social media for more on her story) Despite her tough start in life, she's on the road to recovery and ready to find a loving family. Now, thanks to dedicated care, Lavender is spayed and up to date on her vaccines. Her skin was a little bit of a mess and that has also since healed. She is still gaining weight and we think her ideal weight is closer to 50 pounds. Lavender is a vibrant and playful pup who loves to run in the backyard, wrestle with her foster siblings, and chew on her favorite benebones. Her playful energy is balanced with moments of calm, especially when she's relaxing in her crate. Lavender is crate trained and enjoys sleeping and napping in her cozy space, often going in on her own for some quiet time. She is mostly potty trained but has had occasional accidents, likely due to the stress of transitioning and other dog scents in her foster home. Lavender hasn’t been around children, so we recommend a home with kids aged 10 and up who can respect her space and give her the slow, calm introductions she needs. She hasn't been around cats, so her compatibility is unknown. She adores other dogs and gets along well with all sizes and ages in her foster home. Lavender thrives in social settings with other dogs. Lavender walks well on a leash and isn't reactive towards other dogs. She may glance at them but then continues on her way. Lavender can be protective of her food and bones. She feels secure eating in her crate, which helps build her confidence. She should be fed separately from other dogs to keep everyone safe and happy. She tends to jump to show her excitement and affection; will need continued training in this area. She loves to cuddle in bed and give kisses. She will follow you everywhere- she loves human companionship. Lavender would thrive in a home with a large yard and other dogs to continue her socialization and provide companionship. She needs an adopter who can offer plenty of attention, interaction, and stimulation. Being so young, Lavender still has puppy behaviors, so a vigilant and patient owner willing to continue her training is essential. She’s a smart, loving, and intuitive girl who will make a wonderful addition to a family. Are you ready to give Lavender the loving home she deserves? She’s ready to fill your life with joy, playfulness, and endless cuddles. Adopt Lavender and let her bright personality shine in a forever home! ***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. *** Interested in applying to adopt her?
