My Story

Let us introduce you to the beautiful Leah Thompson. This Pyrenees mix is around 50-lbs (though she could put on few) and believed to be about 3 years old when she and her 4 puppies were rescued from some horrible circumstances and came to SCCR. Now that her little ones have been adopted it is Leah’s turn to find a home where she can be treated like a queen. Leah’s a bit of a home body and her ideal home would be a quiet place with humans that have nothing better to do than pay attention to her and give her a good belly rub. One that has lots of toys for her to choose from. And one where she is the only dog and can get all the attention she deserves. She is fully house trained, very quiet and sees the crate as her safe space to hang out with the door open…. only closing the door because you are leaving, (and she may need enticement to go in). Leah is continuing to figure out life in a safe and loving environment and her foster sees changes every day but right now Leah is not a fan of other dogs in her “personal space”. She co-exists with 3 other dogs in her foster home but is not looking for a playmate right now and would be happiest as an only dog. As far as Leah is concerned, life inside the house is much better than the great outdoors. Lots of noises are scary, squirrels and critters don’t interest her, and she would prefer to spend as little time outside as possible. Sweet, gentle Leah is ready to find a loving home with patient humans who can continue to help her blossom, work with her on training and give her all the back scratches she needs. Could that be? Fill out an application today and Leah would like to meet you. Interested in adopting this dog? Visit our website (http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org) to fill out an application and to find out where this dog may be shown this weekend. We love our dogs. We want happy lives for all of them and are looking for the home that provides the best fit for each dog’s individual needs. Please understand that there may be multiple families interested in this dog. Also, please know that the breed mix listed is simply a guess. In most cases, we don’t know their background. We encourage you to base your decision on individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on our guess. Please understand, we only adopt our animals out near the Chicagoland area.
