My Story

Female, 1 year old, 52 lbs Personality: gentle, snuggler, loyal, goofy/funny, and protective. Introducing Leila the wonder dog! She is the BFF you have been searching for: gentle, cuddly, loving and funny. Loyal Leila will sit patiently and watch you while you work, and the second you head to the couch to watch TV she will be right there with you to snuggle. This darling often dozes off during couch time, and her adorable snores are the perfect soundtrack to whatever you are watching! When you're ready for action, Leila will happily join you for a walk or a good game of fetch. You will also be rolling with laughter when she turns on her goofy side. Leila is so exuberant she will sometimes pull on her leash to get to where she wants to go (usually to meet another dog) but is getting better with the help of a leader leash. She's also making progress on house training and is now comfortable in her crate overnight; she'll happily sleep in it and let you know in the morning when she needs to go out. Leila is one smart cookie and already knows the words "sit and "no. Leila would love to get your belly rubs and some butt scratches. Who knows, perhaps she will be the best friend you ever had. Leila was sponsored by the Betsock Family in memory of Ziggy (FKA Vaughn). If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application. If the animal has "HAS APPLICATION" listed, they are still available to receive additional applications but also may be in the process of being adopted soon. Learn more, see our list of dogs needing foster, and apply, https://www.citydogsrescuedc.org/foster-a-city-dog.html City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Washington, DC. We do not have a shelter. CDCK has a thorough adoption process to find the best possible fit for each of our dogs and cats (we do not operate under a first-come, first-served model). Upon accepting a new cat or dog into the organization, we provide a basic vet visit that includes necessary vaccinations, disease screenings, deworming, microchips, and spay/neuter for dogs six months and older. We do not provide a comprehensive medical exam before adoption. As a result, sickness, injury, and disability may exist unbeknownst to CDCK. City Dogs & City Kitties Rescue is not responsible for payment of any vet care, including known and unknown medical conditions once a cat or dog is adopted from us. Dog specific: Rabies, DHPP, Leptospirosis, and Bordetella vaccines. They are tested for HW, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasmosis. Most cats and dogs will have a house-training accident in the initial days in their new home and we cannot guarantee any pet is housebroken or crate trained.
