My Story

Meet Lenny! Lenny was saved from euthanasia at a rural NC shelter and has been in a foster home for a few weeks. He needs to find his own family so he can bond and settle into a routine. Here is what the foster mom has to say about Lenny: Lenny is a very sweet boy. He is a big puppy and still exhibits those traits especially the nipping when he gets excited. He has not exhibited any aggressive behavior - just puppy nipping. He is approximately 2 years old, 58 lbs, and fully vaccinated. He will be neutered by the rescue prior to adoption. Lenny appears to have "happy tail" which is a raw end of the tail caused by being in a shelter kennel. That should heal with time away from the cement kennel. Lenny knows "sit" and "laydown" however "stay" needs a bit of work. He takes treats very gently and is definitely food motivated. He has a lot of energy and is very strong and could not be handled easily by a smaller person. He can walk on a leash to some degree. I am working with him to heel and not pull. He is getting better each time. He is trainable. Lenny does have some separation anxiety so may do best with someone who can be home at least partially during the day. I have been working on crate training, but he needs more work. As I don't have a fenced in yard, I have had to use a tie out cable to allow him to run around the yard. I set up flags to indicate his limits and he understands to turn around when he gets to those flags when he does zoomies. A lot of dogs walk by in the neighborhood. He does not bark at them but whimpers and desperately wants to play. He eats well and loves pumpkin on his food and loves carrots and blueberries as treats as well as milk bones which he gets every time we come in from outside. He always sits at the door and waits for his milk bone when we come inside. I believe Lenny is very trainable with the right person. This sweet boy deserves a home with a fenced in yard to allow him to expend his tremendous energy. I believe he would do very well with another large dog which may also assist with his separation anxiety. If interested in meeting Lenny, please contact Julie on 919 624 0059 or [email protected]
