January 28, 2023 an extremely malnourished dog was found in rural Louisiana. He truly was at the crossroad in his difficult life, he was so week he was not able to stand. From the moment we heard about this precious boy, we knew we had to do our best to save him. One of our rescuers drove to get him and what she found was a frail 36-pound dog that was hanging on to hope. His joints were swollen and infected, he had severe skin issues and was heartworm positive. Even our vets did not hold out much hope for his survival. It was obvious he had struggled a long time on his on, but we were committed to his care and though his progress was slow, his transformation was amazing! He now had a soft bed to sleep in and toys to play with, something he probably never had before. At his last health check, he had doubled his weight and is now a healthy, sweet, 62-pound boy, with a smile that will melt any heart. Leo needs a forever home! He has been in foster care for one year and deserves to be someone's forever family member. He is cautious with new people but is very loving to his person. Leo will need his new family to be calm and patient with him. After the hardships he has been through trust needs to be earned when he knows he is safe. He has been with his foster for one year now and is patiently waiting for a home of his own. He is hoping he won't be passed by, and someone will make his difficult journey all worthwhile. Leo is a survivor and a loving boy deserving of a good home. Please open your heart and home to this sweet boy.
