My Story

Are you looking for a bestie, companion, and friend who is loyal, good looking, smart, playful, curious, and makes you smile? Then look no further than Leo. This two-year-old pocket-sized Golden “Deceiver” mix weighs in at 38 – 40 lbs. 1) Lots of energy so needs an active home that will enjoy keeping up with his athletic nature 2) A good work-from-home companion; his foster mom says he very quiet and respectful during the day as long as he’s had his walk and some time to romp and play in the morning…and then again at night. 3) Good on the leash but can get excited when he sees a squirrel or pull when he really wants to smell something. Leo is learning the art of being calm and having manners. 4) Will work for cheese! Seriously, teaching him is a breeze with cheddar, mozzarella or cream cheese! 5) Sits politely and waits before being fed. 6) Salsas with trees and bushes before peeing on them. (It’s hilarious to watch!) 7) Friendly and playful with dogs. 8) Velcro, Velcro, Velcro. 9) Enjoys sleeping on the bed, but full access to the house/bedroom prevents him from getting good sleep. So, his fosters have made a “studio apartment” for him in their bedroom closet and walkway. 10) Potty trained. 11) Getting his PHD in frustration tolerance and impulse control with training games/exercises. His foster family will show you all the games our behaviorist has taught them to play. Bonus: Leo will bond with you more quickly this way. 12) Needs a calm/quiet home environment. Mature kids who are 15 and older only please. 13) Enjoys playing with garden hoses and nabbing water from the tub faucet. 14) Loves fetch and general ball play: Leo can get excited when he plays, so he needs a family that can keep him grounded/from getting too amped up. Example: Refrain from racing to get the ball; only get the ball and toss it when he is calm. 15) Canine on Patrol (COP): Leo is alert. Doorbell on TV and he barks. Sees people outside and he barks. He is starting to realize he doesn’t have to bark at everything.
