My Story

Leroy had a bit of a reputation at the shelter as a "bad boy" but in foster, he's a love bug. We guess he thought he had a rep to protect in the shelter. In his foster home, he is loving and prefers to snuggle on the couch with his foster mom. He does well with his foster siblings, walks well on a leash, is crate trained, appears to be potty trained, all around great reports. But, no one is perfect, right? Leroy struggles with a strong phobia of being groomed and he gets angry and will bite if pushed. His foster family is working on desensitizing him but his hair cut is a little funky right now and his forever family will need significant work on this issue. Leroy is also starting to show resource guarding with people whom he is sitting with and food, he is learning this is not ok and getting better. Leash Manners: Walks well on leash Basic Commands: Sit, down, shake Cat introduction in a controlled environment: no reaction, walked up smelled and walked away Good with dogs? eligible for dog intro Special Notes. Leroy needs an experienced home without children and someone that is willing to work through all of his behavior so that he and the Adopters are successful. We are looking for a very specific home for Leroy one that will meet his needs and manage his behavior for him to be a great companion. Adoption Fee: $100 Estimated Date of Birth: 1/29/22 Intake Reason: Transferred from Peoria County Animal Protective Services, original intake owner surrender, no longer wanted Animal will be spayed and up to date on vaccines, and microchipped prior to adoption. If their kennel card on display at TAPS shelter facility is marked as unaltered, the animal will be altered prior to being released for adoption. Animal stage may change from time to time based on surgery and medical status. TAPS strives to keep kennel cards as up to date as possible with current information but from time to time, information may change and a new kennel card may be pending. Full and current vaccination schedule and medical records along with any behavioral disclosures will be provided at time of adoption.
