4/8/06 Leyna is back into rescue by no fault of her own. Unfortunately the resident dog could not accept Lenya in the household so the family decided it was best for Lenya to find her a new home. Poor girl. Won't you consider giving this sweetie a home of her own?
UPDATE: 1/4/06-Leyna had a wonderful week away in the country! Being a typical gsp, she really enjoyed running around in the fields and got a long well with the other dog in the house. Leyna loves having her belly rubbed and is learning some basic commands.
She got a long well with the Christmas guests and the three young children that were in her company. She did wonderful in the car for the long drive and has been a prefect lady in the house. Won’t you make this sweet lady a part of your family?
Leyna is a owner surrender. She was given up by her family because she requires too much attention and exercise which they can no longer provide. She can be somewhat destructive in the home but that is most likely from lack of attention and exercise which this breed certainly requires.
Leyna came into our program just before her 3rd birthday which is Christmas Eve - poor girl. Luckily for her one of our volunteers is going to include Leyna in her family vacation during the holidays. That way, she'll be able to celebrate with lots of friends and another canine companion! What a lucky girl she is!!!!
Leyna is a sweet, 3 yr old, 52 lb girl. She seems to know a few basic commands but continuing with her training is highly recommended. She likes to jump and pulls on leash. She respects 6' fencing, but if there's a chance to escape (open door for example), she takes it! She is fine being kenneled and crated.
Leyna likes other dogs and children. Not sure yet how she is with the felines! She's had no hunting
experience so far.
Did you know that Leyna means "Little Angel" in German. How appropriate for a Christmas
baby :) We expect more information after she returns from her vacation in Upstate NY.
