Meet Lightning Bug (SPONSORSHIP) Lightning Bug is a favorite among our shelter staff and volunteers. She is a very special girl who needs somebody in her life who has a big heart and a little extra patience to help her to adjust to home life. Please consider taking the time to get to know Lightning Bug. Shelter life is very stressful and Lightning Bug has been living at the shelter since she was very young. She has made a lot of friends during her time at the shelter, but she doesn’t get to meet new people very often. This is why meeting new people can be scary for her at first- it usually takes multiple tries before her trust is earned. Once you are in Bug’s circle of friends, get ready for intense snuggle sessions. The key to getting there is patience, multiple visits, and LOTS of treats (bacon flavored treats especially!). Once in a home, we would recommend getting her a trainer who specializes in behavior (she responds beautifully to positive reinforcement) to help with her transition, and to help her to learn how to meet new people once she’s settled into her new home. A fenced in yard would be great so she can run and play (she has a history of playing well with other dogs), but she is also happy to go for a walk instead (she’s a beautiful loose-leash walker!). She will take time to get to know, but we promise she is worth it. Ready to add a bundle of joy to your family? Lightening Bug is waiting to shower you with love and tail wags! Our love bug's adoption fee is $350 which includes being fully vetted, spayed, microchipped and fecal exam. Lightening Bug is 3 years old and is a petite girl weighing 50lbs. Please be advised: A $100 cash training deposit is required for all dogs. Upon confirmation of completion of a training class, this deposit will be fully refunded. As a rescue organization, all adult dogs and puppies for adoption must undergo spaying or neutering. While we strive to complete this procedure before adoption, it may not always be possible.
