My Story

FAST FACTS: *2 years old - 55 pounds *Playful, Energetic, Affectionate, Loyal *Patient, Dog-Savvy Adopters Wanted *Dog Friendly (Another Dog Preferred to Help My Confidence) *Older Kid Friendly *Mostly Potty Trained *Not Crate-Trained (But Does Fine When Left Alone) *Training Required BIO: Hi there, I'm Lilah, a sweet young dog in search of a loving forever home to call my own. My early life wasn't easy, but thanks to my foster family's TLC and patience, I'm learning what it means to be in a loving family. I'm a playful, dog-friendly gal who enjoys romping around the backyard with my FTF friend Avril, going on nice walks, or running around the house playing with my plush toys. I'm known to get the zoomies and run around the backyard at breakneck speed...foster mom says I’ve almost figured out where my brakes are, but I'd likely do best with older children who won't topple over if I zoom into them. Once I've run out all my puppy energy, I love to shower my people with affectionate hugs, kisses and snuggles. Work from home? I'm a great officemate who will curl up for a nap next to you or quietly chew on a bone while you take work calls. I’m proud to say I’m almost potty trained and have been going to training to help me build my confidence—I’m perfecting my leash manners, and know commands, such as “heel,” “sit,” “stay,” and “down.” I'm making huge strides every day and soaking up all the guidance and patience my foster family has to offer. One thing to know about me is that I've had some tough experiences in the past, and have likely never known human affection. But I'm working hard on overcoming my fears and building trust with more and more people outside of my foster parents each day! With slow introductions (and lots of treats), I’ve already made remarkable strides making friends with my foster family’s friends, neighbors, and FTF volunteers, showing just how resilient and brave I can be. Thanks to the patience and guidance of my foster parents, I now feel safe and comfortable going on adventures to places like farmer’s markets (to get my weekly dog treats!), breweries, coffee shops (I love pup cups from Starbucks!), and parks—and even confident greeting new people slowly on these adventures, too! What also helps me gain confidence around new people is other dog friends. At adoption shows, if I’m next to one of my FTF dog friends, I will follow their lead and will even greet people all on my own (no treats required)! So, if you have another dog in your house, the mentorship and guidance from another dog sibling would definitely be a plus for me! With the guidance of my foster family, I'm learning to let go of fear and embrace the beauty of connection. If you're an experienced pet parent with a big heart and plenty of patience, I know we could be the perfect match.
