Lilo-adopted

Lilo is a 4 yr old Shih-Tzu/Poodle mix that is looking for a new forever home. He is an owner surrender and is best with a female dog or as an only dog. Lilo is a friendly little guy who loves kids and gets along with most dogs. He loves to chase balls or tossed squeaky toys. He loves to sit on your lap and get petted. He even likes water (will jump in the shower, sometimes the bathtub, outdoor swimming pools, run through the sprinkler). He would be a good only dog because he loves to be the center of attention! Lilo's adoption fee is $200.00 which includes his vetting. He is neutered, has rabies cert. and shots. He has been around cats, dogs, and small children. He does not like his tail pulled but has been "bopped" by a toddler without doing more than looking confused. He has been abused before and needs a home that will NOT hit him! We require a fenced yard if there are kids under the age of 12 in the home.

Adopting a dog that has been moved from a home to a shelter and then to a rescue is not for everyone. It takes time and patience to make that dog feel at home in his new environment. It takes at least 1 week and usually up to a month for a dog to acclimate to your schedule and home. An animal shelter is the most stressful place for a dog to be, with other dogs barking and not knowing what is happening around them. Some dogs come to their new home scared and timid. They will sometimes take several days before they start eating and have anything to do with the new adopters.

It's not easy rescuing a dog. It takes patience and time and LOVE. These dogs need love and understanding, not another rejection.
