My Story

Please read Lily's entire profile, which includes a link to the adoption application. Thank you!** This is Lily, a just over 3-year-old, 61-pound, Mountain Cur/Plott Hound mix lady. Lily has been waiting over A FULL YEAR hoping her forever family finds her. I mean look at that sweet face!! Lily is the hardest type of dog to adopt: medium age, large and dark in color with a disability. But, this girl deserves a chance in life! She is worth it! She was a superstar on the Pet Parade but still no one has adopted her yet (and that was three months ago). We know she needs a special home - but we believe there are special people out there! Her foster shares "Lily just sneaks into your heart and you can’t help but love her! She is such a sweetheart and loves to cuddle and be close to her people. She loves sitting in the recliner with me! She has a funny, silly side too - she is always happy and wiggly. When Lily came north she quickly won over everyone who met her. She was a favorite at the kennel when she arrived, and has several admirers from her meet and greets. Lily made love connections at meet and greets, but unfortunately she requires a home without cats or small animals which prevented the adoptions from going through. Lily absolutely loves toys. She wags her tail and smiles at you the whole time she's chewing on her toys, which is absolutely adorable. Right now, Lily is fairly low energy except for a happy dance she does at meal times (see the video - it is adorable)! Lily arrived North after waiting in a southern foster for months only to find out she needs TPLO surgery on her right knee. Luckily, her Great Dog fans came through and fundraised the amount needed and she was able to have the surgery she needed. She does have some arthritis in her knee so likely she will need meds for that down the road (but not now). Lily is fully housebroken and knows to tell you she has to go outside. Lily would need to go to a home that is kid and dog free. She has learned sit, she takes treats gently, and she really understands how to greet people with all four paws on the floor. She will be the perfect addition to any home where you want never-ending cuddles! All dogs are up to date on vaccinations and spayed/neutered at the time of adoption. All dogs require professional training to become the best family member they can be. To adopt or learn more about Lily, you must fill out an adoption application. To find the application, copy and paste this URL into your browser: WWW.GDRNE.COM/ADOPTION-APPLICATION [Adoption Fee: $425] ** PLEASE READ: If a dog is listed, then s/he is currently available for adoption. Their information is correct to the best of our abilities and the information we have been given as of the day of posting. Please note, GDRNE does not guarantee the breed of any dog or puppy unless stated that we have run DNA. All breeds listed are educated estimates. Our dogs are rescued from various situations. It is most likely that both their parents were strays and even if not, mixes of some sort and that their grandparents were mixes as well. The dog may have some genetic material of an American Staffordshire Terrier (pit bull). The dogs are usually mixes of many breeds, making them a breed all their own - a True and adorable American MUTT. If you are interested in this dog, you must submit an application. Great Dog is not a shelter so there is no building you can visit. Our dogs live in private foster homes until adopted.
