My Story

Loki is a dashing boy looking to find placement with a foster or and adopter. Loki was on a deadline and went to a foster for a little over a month, where he did well. His foster is moving out of town, and Loki has found himself back at PACC. While in foster, Loki was great when left in the home (leaving the TV on helps him settle), housetrained, and he's very smart. While he isn't big with playing, he loves his person very much. He does great being walked and responds well to positive reinforcement. He would make an amazing running/hiking partner. He can be a bit nervous around new people in the home, and but settles with some time and appropriate introductions. Loki initially came to PACC as an owner surrender when he was picked up from his home by an Animal Protection Officer after getting into an altercation with the other older (10-year-old) dog in the home. Unfortunately, when Loki and the other dog were being separated, 2 minor children were bit by Loki, and the other dog did sustain severe injuries. Dog fights can be very tumultuous and redirections are hard to avoid. During Loki's first time in playgroup with other dogs, he was nervous, if tolerant of the other dogs, and kept to himself. Once he came back from foster, he has shown that he is social and tolerant when dogs come up to greet him, though he still mostly keeps to himself. Once he warmed up to the people in the yard, he started opting for the company of the people in the play yard. He had good communication with the other dogs in the yard. He has generally been nervous in the shelter, but calms considerably when being walked out in the desert areas surrounding the shelter. When taken on longer walks around the shelter, he seems to gain some confidence, becoming interested in the scents and enjoying the walk. Even though he is overwhelmed by the shelter environment, he has shown that with time and patience, he can bond with people. He would likely do well in a quiet home where he can gain confidence over time. Loki will need to meet any dogs he will be living with to be sure they will be a good match for each other. Come meet this sweetheart today!! Let's make the most of Loki's second chance.
