My Story

Meet Lola, the affectionate seven-year-old Staffordshire Terrier with a heart as sweet as candy. This darling pup has a knack for spreading joy, greeting anyone who enters her kennel with big hugs and kisses. Lola is the epitome of gentleness, displaying impeccable leash manners during walks-no pulling, just a leisurely stroll as she explores her surroundings. A volunteer took her home and said she was the perfect guest. She would be the perfect work from home dog. She just wants a couch or a lap to lay on. She seems potty trained and loves to chew on nyla bones. She would be the perfect netflix partner. She would be great in a room when you are away. She does not bark or scratch on the door. Just a perfect lady. During a recent playgroup session,Lola took the time to size up her playmates. Like an expert poker player, she didn't tip her hand to let them know whether she was enjoying them or not. After a while, she finally seemed ready to engage, and we did get several playbows out of her. She tolerated a high energy male dog, and did a lot of tail wagging all while maintaining her stoic poker face. While Lola may not know tricks, her strong food motivation makes her a perfect candidate for learning the basics. With a gentle demeanor and a love for treats, teaching her new skills is likely to be a delightful and rewarding experience for both Corn Muffin and her lucky adopter. It's worth noting that Lola is heartworm positive, but thanks to the generous support from Friends of Wake County Animal Center, she has a $400 sponsorship towards the medical costs for heartworm treatment. It's important to remember that heartworm is not transferable to other dogs, and with treatment being possible, Corn Muffin is on her way to a healthier and happier life. She is up to date on vaccinations, flea/tick, and heartworm prevention, is microchipped, and will be spayed prior to going home. If you have dogs or cats, we recommend slow introductions over time. If you have children in your home, we recommend supervision between animals and children at all times.
