My Story

Meet Lucas, a 1-year-old, 26-pound, medium-sized Formosan Mountain dog mix with a dash of Chihuahua or another smaller breed. Lucas is a bundle of joy, intelligence, and affection. About Lucas: Intelligent and Trainable: Lucas is highly intelligent and easy to train, quickly picking up new commands and tricks. Affectionate and Loyal: He is very affectionate and deeply loyal to his family. With his family, he turns into a joyful and playful goofball. Anxious and Introverted: Lucas can be anxious and wary of strangers and noises, but he thrives on positive reinforcement and patience. Excitable: His biggest barrier to compliance is his excitability, so a calm and patient approach works best with him. Energetic and Active: Lucas is a young dog and will require regular exercise. He's a great companion for jogging, hiking, or any physical activity away from noisy streets. Social with Dogs: Lucas is a pack dog and would thrive with a confident dog sibling his size or bigger. He also does well with a work-from-home active owner. Good with Older Children: He can be good with older children who respect animals and understand boundaries. Good Guard Dog: Lucas is a good guard dog without being overly barky or aggressive. Training and Socialization: House-Trained: Lucas is house-trained but not crate trained. Basic Commands: He knows how to sit and lay down on command in the home and is improving with sit commands on the street. Leash Skills: With regular exercise and patience, Lucas's leash skills have improved, and he's becoming less scared on the leash. Socialization: He is being socialized to get used to city noises and people, and he's making great progress. What Lucas Loves: Cuddling and Downtime: Lucas enjoys cuddling and downtime with his foster family. Playing: He loves playing tug o' war with his pug foster brother, which helps build his confidence. Chew Toys: He often enjoys his chew bone or squeaky trout toy to keep him stimulated. Lucas's forever family will need to continue working with him to reinforce and advance the progress he's been making. He's a fantastic dog to grow with, and he's ready to bring lots of love, loyalty, and joy to his new home! Vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP, and bordetella. Neutered, heartworm negative, and microchipped. Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. To apply for Lucas, visit our website (www.waggytailrescue.org) for an adoption application. It is important to fill out an application as soon as possible for consideration, and we require a complete application for you to meet an animal. We are currently unable to respond to general email inquiries as an all-volunteer run rescue. If the animal is on our website, they are still available. Waggytail Rescue CANNOT guarantee the exact age of any adoptable dog, or final size of any of our adoptable puppies. We rely on the information provided to us by veterinarians, shelters, owner surrenders and other circumstances bringing the dog into our rescue. Adoptions: [email protected]
