Lucas Henry

Lucas Henry had an extremely rough start to life. He was picked up from the street by a friend of our rescue. She reached out to us since he was in such horrible shape. Our rescue founder took his 2 pound emaciated puppy body straight to the emergency room where he stayed in the critical care unit for a few days. After a lot of ups, downs, surprises, and scary moments, Lucas Henry was finally on the path towards healing. You can see more of his story plastered on our social media for most of the month of June 2024. His estimated birthday is the end of March 2024 and he looks and acts mostly pitbull to us. He is half black and half brindle. He is catching up on his nutrition, growing like a weed and working his way through his puppy vaccines. Now, this little spoiled rotten chunky monkey has a powerful personality. He is sweet when it's time for cuddles and pouty when he gets corrected. His current besties are a retired spicy lady chihuahua and a middle-aged blind floofy-haired boy. He is very socialized and enjoys playing with dogs of all sizes and ages, he'll nap on the couch with them or grab their leash and pull them around. He's even learning to swim! Lucas likes anything fluffy, including plush toys, fuzzy beds, piles of blankets, and long-haired doggie friends he can burrow into when they are laying on their sides. At night, he'll fall asleep on you while you tell him bedtime stories. He'll gently nibble on your chin and eyebrows, or even suck on your finger like a pacifier while he falls asleep. He loves to sleep with his humans but is starting kennel-training now that he's healthy. His foster mom has figured out that "give me a kiss" gets her a chomp whereas "give me some sugar" gets her a big smooch!! Lucas is really good in the car too, he loves to watch the trees go by and then falls asleep almost instantly. At home, he follows his human around and likes to see what they're doing but he also is sneaky and will disappear around the corner, up the steps or out the doggie door.
