Hi my name is Lucia. I am a two year old black Kelpie/Malinois mix. I was found as a stray alone and scared before I ended up at the Porterville Shelter. I was so shut down, but I have come so far with the help of my foster mom and foster aunt. I am a very active girl who loves to walk endlessly or go on long hikes. I weigh 60 pounds, and I’ve gained 22 pounds since my foster mom took me in. I’m learning how to make doggie friends. I’ve met some well balanced large dogs that I had a lot of fun running around with at the park. I would probably love a friendly large dog companion to play with, but I could do well on my own as well. I would love to have a nice yard where I can run and play. My foster mom has gotten me a lot of toys that will come with me when I find my new forever home. I have learned many new things since I have been with my foster mother and aunt. I know commands such as sit, stay, down, heel and turn. Like most shepherds, I am loyal and protective of my family. I am a good freind and companion. I don’t bark much in the house but will bark at a stranger. I would do well with a single active person or active couple. I like to work, so I usually spend an hour a day training with my foster mom. I love to be hugged, and I know the word hugs. I am crate trained, potty trained, spayed, vaccinated and microchipped, so I’m ready to go.
