MEET LUCKY
This handsome fella is Lucky, an approximately 5-year-old rat terrier mix. Lucky has a gorgeous smooth sable coat with a broad band of black down his back, white on his chest, and two white socks in front. He is a medium-sized dog weighing around 32 pounds, whose thicker body almost doesn’t seem to belong to his long legs and slim head.
Lucky was pulled from our local animal shelter where he was an owner surrender due to their health preventing them from caring for him any longer. Because of this unexpected change in his circumstances, Lucky will need more time than the average pup to adjust to any new situation, so he will need a special adopter to welcome him into their home. But if you are willing to give him the time, space, and understanding he needs to feel comfortable, you will find that you have gained a wonderfully loyal and fun companion! Lucky is sweet, loving, playful, and he loves attention! He takes a little bit more time to warm up to people sometimes, but with patience and love – and maybe a few treats! – it doesn’t take long to win him over. Lucky loves to run around in the yard to burn off some of his energy, and he his favorite pastime is to play fetch, which he will do forever! But as much energy as he exhibits, you will find that if you get down to his level, Lucky will crawl up in your lap for love and cuddles, so he can settle down nicely. In fact, your lap is his preferred place to be!!
Lucky will be okay in an apartment setting provided he gets plenty of daily exercises, but he is not to be an outside dog only as he likes to be with his people. He will need a fenced yard if left outside unattended at all. Lucky is best suited for a quiet, calm home environment with no children - and probably no other pets. He is crate trained and house trained. Lucky is up to date on his vet care, is heartworm negative, is microchipped, and has been neutered. He is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.
If you have a heart for the ones that need extra love and attention because life has not been fair to them, then bring this sweet, lovable guy home and you’ll be the LUCKY one!?
