My Story
Hi there, I'm Lucy and do I have a story for you! But first, let me introduce myself. I am 2-3 year old cattle dog mix with a ridiculous amount of love to give. I am full of energy so I can (and will) follow my people (and fur family) to the end of the earth if the need arises. I LOVE my family and will protect them or at the very least warn them if danger, or a squirrel, is afoot. I play great with my doggy brothers and sisters and love to play tug or just romp around the yard. How about training, you ask? Well let me tell you, I know my basic commands, have excellent recall, am leash trained, crate trained, and am ready to learn more! If you are looking for a companion, best friend, and partner in crime, I'm your gal!
Now for a little background: not so long ago, in February, a kind soul in NM found me on their doorstep, starving, limping, and in very rough shape. I think my ceaselessly wagging tail, in spite of my condition, helped to get me chosen to hitch a ride from the Rez to my new foster in Colorado! When I arrived, I weighed 28 pounds and was so weak that I couldn't even get up the stairs. With a lot of help and love, I was able to almost double my weight in the last three months. Once I got healthy enough, they were finally able to take a better look at my limp, and that's how they find out that I was hit by a car. I would've told them if I could've! My femur broke through my pelvis and we all decided that surgery was the best option to get me back in tip top shape! And that's where I am now, in recovery from my FHO and spay, just being my happy go lucky self and hoping to find my forever home! I will make be back to my normal self in around mid July and I am so ready. This limiting my walks and playing is no fun!
