Lucy is a beautiful, intelligent, and sweet golden doodle who came to our rescue having been a mommy used in a puppy mill. She has been with her foster family for a little over a month and has made amazing strides. She has moved from timid and shy to playful, energetic, and loving in such a short time. She takes a little time to approach new people and shows her trust by coming and putting her head against you allowing pets and cuddles and will walk away when she has had enough. Lucy has been around adults and teens/older children but not exposed to small children in her foster home, although the foster family has no reason to believe she will not be fine with small children as well. She has a very gentle demeanor and is very calm-natured. She loves to walk on a leash, and we are very gently working on some crate training due to her past experiences being in a puppy mill. She has done very well with other dogs and even a cat in her foster home although she may need some time to acclimate in a new situation as that was the experience in her foster home. Lucy loves to be outside to play but secure fencing is a must when she is outdoors. She is very intelligent and can figure out certain types of gates and doors. It's a doodle thing. She is only motivated to do so when her people are on the other side of the fence because she loves to be with her people. She is housebroken, with only occasional accidents in the house. Lucy, like most of the doodle breed, loves to "counter surf" so food should be kept off the counters within her reach. She responds very well to a firm no and will stop any behavior she is engaged in if she is told no. Lucy will make a wonderful addition to any home.
