My Story

Nickname: Gender: Female, Spayed, Microchipped DOB: 04/22/2024 Weight: 26-60lbs Good with cats: yes Good with dogs: yes Good with children: yes but nippy and learning to be gentle Housetrained: working on it and crate trained Medical condition: none Diet: Nutrisource puppy wet and dry Lucy Mae is a joy. Everyone that meets her just falls in love. She has one of those radiant personalities that just show how a dog can go through something traumatic and still turn out happy and loving. She has never met a stranger, dog or human. Lucy Mae was found in a trash can by 2 young ladies late one night. Lucy was barely 2lbs and maybe 3 weeks old. They took her back to their hotel after going to the pet store and buying supplies. They set her up in the bath tub and went about their business. In the morning they found her have a seizure and incoherent. They rushed her to the animal ER. Funds were a concern so minimal workup was done but she was diagnosed with malnutrition and q heavy parasite load. The vet was concerned there could be more going on but sent the ladies home with dewormer, antiseizure medication and some really high calorie wet food as well as strict follow up instructions. The ladies knew this was more than they could handle. Especially since they were leaving out of town later that day. So, they begun to search for help. After walking into 3 local shelters and being turned away they stumbled in the Flower Mound Animal Shelter. Again, they were told that the shelter can't take in a puppy so small with medical issues BUT they could call local rescues. ARF was contacted and the young ladies brought Lucy Mae to out medical director. Since that day Luc has done fabulous. Not one seizure. She has a great appetite. We actual feed her in a slow feeder bowl to help her slow down. She is growing fast and learning quick. She is in a foster home with kids, cats and other dogs so she is well rounded. An adopter that is familiar with her breed would be recommended since they do have special "talents". All dogs are in happy foster homes so you MUST set-up an appointment by calling 972-318-9650 or by sending an email to [email protected].
