My Story

Animal Profile: Puppy is a 6 month old Terrier mix puppy who will be joining us along with 5 siblings from San Joaquin California. These dogs have been held in outdoor kennels at a Waste Treatment Facility in San Joaquin Valley. Temperatures are now over 100 degrees and these dogs sit and wait for help to arrive. This "shelter" has no website, no adoptions, and no resources. We were asked to help so they will be joining us on June 16th. We will share more info as we get to know them in foster care. Foster Update: Prepare to have your heart stolen by the most charming rogue.Luke is a 5-month-old terrier mix who was stuck in an asphalt pen in 100-degree heat with his pack, but thanks to some heroic rescue efforts, Luke is now living in the PNW and is ready to find his forever home. This pup is playful, smart, and has a personality that's bigger than the Space Needle. He's been learning the ropes from our resident 1-year-old terrier mix and playing tag with our 11-year-old daughter. Spoiler alert: he wins every time. Luke is also practicing his social skills and mastering the art of leash walking. He is still learning that the world is a safe place and so can be hesitant at first. He's a quick learner though (House trained in 4 days, Adjusted to schedule in a week and started gaming the system for more treats in 10 days!). When he's with family, he's as happy as a clam at high tide. We're looking for a patient fun-loving family to give Luke the forever home he deserves. If you're ready for daily doses of puppy kisses and tail wags, Luke is your guy. Luke is looking for a home with a securely fenced yard and a resident dog to help him explore his new world. Adoption Info: Adoption fee is $550, which includes spay/neuter, current vaccinations per AVMA standards, microchip, negative heartworm test if over 6 months, and health certificate. Your donation may be tax deductible as DGS is a 501c3 organization. He will be available for adoption once evaluated in foster care.
