I am playful, energetic, and smart, with a dose of mischief that will keep you on your toes and smiling at the same time. My tail never stops wagging. I love it when you give me attention and tell me that I'm a good dog. I never get tired of that. I'm cautious with certain things too, and sometimes I feel scared or nervous with new situations. There are just things in life that I've never experienced before. With time and patience, I will become such a great companion for my new family! I hope that will be you. I'm as cute as a button, 4-years-old, and 21-pounds. I am a bundle of playful joy, with soft fur, the sweetest little face, and a spunky, silly, delightful personality. I look so much like an adorable Yellow Lab puppy, yet I'm a fully grown Beagle mix. I'm already crate trained and mostly housebroken too, as long as I get out frequently and on a schedule. I came to Wayside when my previous family could no longer take care of me. I still remember the stress and confusion I felt that day. Since then, I spent several weeks in a loving foster home, and I'm currently staying in a quiet part of the shelter, where I'm able to relax and feel safe. I don't want to miss you though, so please ask to meet me when you come out to Wayside. I learned so much during my weeks in foster. Foster Mom understood my insecurities and quirks, and she helped me to grow more comfortable with life. Having positive experiences with things that were once scary to me helped to put me at ease and build my confidence. Foster Mom worked from home, so I was able to spend most of my time right by her side, which I loved. I liked going out for plenty of breaks during the day. I quietly stayed in my crate in her bedroom at night. I was also crated when she ran errands or when I needed time to settle down. I have lots of fun, playful energy! I love playing with my toys, especially the squeaky variety, which I toss in the air before flipping over to try to catch them. I'm a goofy gal when I play. I hadn't completely figured out which things were mine, so Foster Mom kept an eye on me. She stayed patient and calm with me as I learned. I will thrive in a positive environment with people who praise and encourage me when I'm a good girl. I love my people! I want to hug you and melt into you, awkwardly snuggling as I stay as close to you as possible. I can be over the top in my cuddle style on the couch, so Foster Mom sat with me on the floor to pet me. I'd love a home with people around to dote on me and give me the affection that I crave. I want to be your constant companion, your little shadow. I hope you don't mind! In foster, I was initially jumpy like a pogo stick asking for attention. Once I felt relaxed and comfortable though, I stayed calm most of the time. I was mostly quiet around the house, but I barked outside at various things. I will need daily exercise in my new home, to help me stay happy, healthy, and calm. I'll need a securely fenced yard, where I can run and sniff and explore, putting my Beagle nose to work as I burn off excess energy. I can be a flight risk if I get startled or afraid, and I'm very fast when I run, so it's important to keep me safe when I'm outside, either on a leash or in a safe fenced area. I love going for walks. Sometimes I pull on my leash, such as when I find a special smell or when I'm afraid, so a harness works well for me. If I see people or other dogs along the way at a distance, I don't react. If they get in my space, though, I react by barking or jumping or pulling at my leash. I'm learning to be comfortable in these situations with practice and training. I'd love a calm and quiet yet active home without a lot of commotion. I need a home with kids over the age of at least 10, because they make me nervous. Foster Mom sometimes walked me near a school in her neighborhood when the kids were out playing, just to let me observe from a distance. I don't live with other dogs in foster, which is fine with me. If you do have another dog, they will need to be larger than I am, not submissive, and tolerant of my playstyle. I will need to meet everyone in the family, including the kids and other dogs, before we all go home together, to make sure we're all a great match for each other. I am a hoot, and I will make you laugh at my silly antics every single day. I hope you have a sense of humor, and that you quickly realize that your life is better just by having me around. That's my goal...to make your life the best it can be. Please let me do that for you! Love, Luna Please call our Adoptions Department if you are interested in this animal to make certain he/she is still available for adoption! ADOPTION INFORMATION: All Wayside Waifs pets are spayed/neutered and up-to-date on vaccinations prior to adoption.
