My Story

IF NOT CLAIMED BY OWNER AVAILABLE WEDNESDAY, JULY 3 PROOF OF OWNERSHIP REQUIRED Luna is 3 years old. She was left at the shelter with the following info: She lost the use of her hindlegs. She does get around dragging her hind legs fairly well. She is learning to use a wheelchair and drag bag (pictured). Luna is good with men, women, kids, cats and other dogs. She currently weighs 19 pounds. Foster Report: Luna's back legs are paralyzed, and this seems to be permanent. She gets along fine with the resident dogs in the home. She doesn't really interact with them but peacefully coexists. The cat walked up to her and she kind of froze like she's afraid of what he was going to do. She is basically incontinent, and poo and urine just come out whenever. The fosters keep a diaper on her during the day but leave it off at night when she is in her crate. She drags herself around on her front legs. They have a drag bag and have tried it a couple of times, but she freezes up and doesn't know what to do. They have the set of wheels that were at the Shelter and have tried it once, but she doesn't know how to use it yet. We are not sure it's really needed for her. She mostly just lays around and sleeps. She currently has a UTI and is being treated for it. But will be susceptible to them in her condition. She's very friendly and gets super excited when the foster parents come home. She can stand to lose a little bit of weight, which might be easier on her. She's had her Shelter shots and rabies vaccine, and the four DX was all negative and will start preventative for heartworms, ticks and fleas. Meeting dogs is by appointment only. Please call the shelter (740/593-5415) to make an appointment. All adopters must bring in kids and other dogs in the household for a meet and greet before adoption. Adoption fees are $125 ($65 for dogs 7 years old and older) and include dog license, basic vaccinations, heartworm test on adult dogs, and spay or neuter (ARRIVED 6/28/24).
