My Story

There are few things that make dog lovers happier than an adoptable dog who is playful, loves the water, gives gentle kisses, and is respectful of cats! Meet Luna! She has a face that practically forces you to smile—those eyes, those floppy ears, and her cool tiger stripe brindle coat are just a bunch of cuteness overload. While her breed is a bit of a mystery (maybe some hound in there?), we believe she’s in the teenage portion of her puppy days, just shy of a year old. She’s showing maturity but still has the puppy-like enthusiasm for learning and adventures. Luna has been lucky to wait out her adoption day in a foster home. This is a big plus because it gives her a jump-start on the skills needed to be a fantastic house dog. Her foster family can’t say enough good things about her crate skills; she goes in easily when asked and is quiet. Luna also travels like a pro, making road trips a breeze. She's a cuddle-bug extraordinaire and loves resting her head on her foster mom’s growing baby bump. Luna lives with another dog and, during her time at the rescue, joined playgroups, showing off her dog-friendly, playful ways. She’s happy to initiate play but can easily read when another dog isn’t interested and moves on to find a new friend. No pushy playmate here! An ideal home for Luna would include a playful dog and maybe a yard. While not necessary, her love of a tennis ball works well in a yard. A playful friend, a tennis ball, her person, and a patch of grass would be her formula for absolute happiness. Add in a body of water, pool, or lake, and she would be over the moon. This girl LOVES the water! Add water and watch her swim and splash to her heart’s content. Another awesome thing about Luna is that she’s cat-tolerant! Having lived with cats in her foster home, she takes a respectfully avoidant approach, which works like a charm for any cat I’ve ever met. She has recently discovered her bark, which she likes to use occasionally to get the attention of a passerby. Given her age and eagerness to learn and please, this should be an easy thing to train away if you choose to. Luna is a fun-loving, sweet, and playful pup who wants nothing more than a family to call her own. Could that be you? If you have any questions about Luna or would like us to test her for a specific setting or detail, please be in touch! Your adoption fee is considered a donation towards actual costs. Why adopt from Three Little Pitties? The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it! Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We provide weekly socialization programs for our dogs through playgroups and group leash training classes available to all dogs in our adoption program, and Doggy Sleepover, Doggy Day Out, and Ambassador programs for our boarding dogs. There is a professional dog trainer on staff to provide support for our fosters and dogs, and an off-site dog trainer for dogs that need more extensive behavior modification. This helps us learn deeply about every dog, prepare them for adoption, and ultimately match them with loving families. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be! It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks: • A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week) • One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan • 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan • Coupons for a fun visit to Petco • Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup! We celebrated our 6 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 13,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
