Macey - ADOPTED!

- RESOURCE GUARDER (will bite) - NO CHILDREN Estimated DOB: 6/12/2021 Weight: 12# Macey is fully vaccinated, dewormed, defleaed, spayed, microchipped with lifetime registration to the rescue, heartworm negative and on monthly prevention, etc. I think that she is a long haired chihuahua. But that was not a breed option so I also chose Papillion. Macey was abandoned in a crate with a bag of food in an apt complex parking lot. She was pretty scared and snappy, and it took her a few days to warm up to me. Since then, her personality has flourished, and she is such a little love once she trusts. She's super spunky and playful and loves to rough house with the others and zoom around and chase and be chased. She's good on walks and in the car. She is crate trained. But she can resource guard her crate. So, she might be best not crated in a new home. She is fine with her routine here and goes right in and sleeps in her crate at night. She has been adopted and returned 2 times due to her resource guarding. Her new home must be familiar with rescue dogs and "resource guarding". She will need to be gradually acclimated to the new home and given attention and freedom as she earns it. She is very intelligent and without patience and boundaries, she will just be setting up for failure again. If there are any fencing issues, make sure that repairs are done prior to the home visit. Typically, the adoption is finalized the day after the home visit and meet and greet. Out of area adopters would need to drive/fly in to meet the dogs and adopt.
