My Story

The faces of Maddie. She is hands down one of my favorite personalities at the shelter. It is TIME for this girl to find a home! She's been with us for 15 weeks, and no interest! This is a very quirky, funny, highly intelligent dog. The first day she was brought to us, I put her on the side yard, and she promptly jumped our side fence! She was heading north, I called to her, and she said adios amigo... So I jumped in my truck and followed her. As bad luck would have it, she turned to run onto the 101! I was in hot pursuit at this point... she was galloping southbound 101 and I was shadowing her with my emergency lights on in the middle of both lanes! Of course, people are driving too fast around me, and I am silently MF ing them! Well, maybe it wasn't very silent... By the time we got past the sushi place, I went country on her and made a cutting move to force her to go back towards Superfly... We are now approaching, approximately a 2 mile run! This girl was elusive as a greased chicken. She continued to run all the way to a small gated community out on the bluff and I thought to myself now I've got you my pretty. I swerved the truck in closing the entrance and got out with a slip lead, and she was pacing back-and-forth with a low growl, I mean who could blame her... We had only met momentarily. She looked like she was going to juke me and run right past me and we would be back on the chase, but I firmly told her Maddie use it!! And she did... She rolled ride over on the ground, allowed me to put the slip lead on, and gladly climbed into the truck! Since then we have been close friends! You just can't make these stories up!! This fun girl who is only 2 1/2 years old and #63 needs a home! A home that is secure, and that likes to have her around, preferably in the house with them and/or outings and other fun stuff. Once she bonds with you, she won't want to get away from you!... She is definitely housebroken, food, motivated, but does not like cats! This animal is available at South Coast Humane Society, Brookings, Oregon. www.mysouthcoasthumane.org
